Three levels. Which one sounds like your child?

Explorer, Speaker and Champion, in that order. Every child starts at the one that fits and moves up through the six themes of the syllabus.

  1. Level 1Explorer

    Right for

A child who is new to speaking in front of others, or goes quiet the moment they have to stand up.

    By the end they can

Stand up and be heard: speak from the belly, hold eye contact, plant their feet, and give a thirty-second speech about something they love.

  2. Level 2Speaker

    Right for

A child who can stand up and speak, and is ready to give their words a shape.

    By the end they can

Tell a story with a beginning, a middle and an end, and deliver a prepared hamburger speech: a hook, three points and a conclusion.

  3. Level 3Champion

    Right for

A child who can give a prepared speech and now wants to argue a point and answer back.

    By the end they can

Say a thing and then say why, respond to what a classmate actually said, and take a side in a one-minute mini debate or an impromptu from the jar.

Six themes, in this order.

From a first thirty-second speech to a first mini debate. The order never changes; the topics come from the class.

  1. Stand up and be heard

Voice projection, pace and pausing. Speaking from the belly, not the throat. The first speech is thirty seconds about something they love.

  2. Faces, hands and feet

Eye contact (or foreheads, if eyes feel scary), the invisible box for gestures, planting the feet. The fidget check.

  3. Tell a story

Show and tell, then a story with a beginning, a middle and an end. Expression: changing speed and volume so it never sounds like a robot.

  4. The hamburger speech

Hook, roadmap, three points, a conclusion that repeats the big message. Prepared speeches on topics the class chooses.

  5. Because

The first structured argument: say a thing, then say why. Listening to a classmate and responding to what they actually said.

  6. Mini debates and impromptu

Two sides, one motion, a minute each. Impromptu prompts pulled from a jar. Everyone speaks in every class.

Two live classes a week. Every class includes:

  • Everyone speaks

Ten in the room, one coach, no back row. A speech from every child, every class.

  • Learning by playing

Stories, games, show-and-tell and prompts from a jar.

  • Real-time feedback

The coach corrects voice, pace and posture as they speak.

  • Listening and responding

Answering what a classmate actually said, not just waiting for a turn.

Questions parents ask first

My child is six and very shy. Is this for them?

Yes. Most juniors start that way. The first speech is thirty seconds about something they love, in a room of ten, and nobody laughs. A nervous child can just listen in the first class.

When does it start?

Young Speakers Academy is coming soon and no batches are open yet. Join the waitlist on WhatsApp and we will message you as soon as the first batch is scheduled.

How many classes a week, and how long is a term?

Two live classes a week, in a batch of ten. A term is three months.

What are Explorer, Speaker and Champion?

The three levels of the Academy, in that order. Explorer is about standing up and being heard. Speaker is about telling a story and giving a prepared speech. Champion is about arguing a point, answering back and the first mini debates.

What do I see as a parent?

Every class is recorded, attendance is logged automatically, and the coach scores your child on four dimensions. It all sits in one student profile on the Taivas LMS.

What happens at the end of the term?

A showcase: a prepared speech delivered from the front. A term certificate is issued at 75% attendance. Grade 3 and 4 students can also enter NSDC 2026.

What happens after Grade 4?

From Grade 5 your child moves into the Debating Programme, placed at the right level by a free diagnostic trial.
